The Shaking
I felt like I was herding cats. The hands of my kids (ages two, four, and seven) were moving faster than I could manage. My husband was at home in bed resting, and there I was at my parents’ house trying to make Christmas cookies with my children. I wanted to teach them how you carefully place each cookie cutter near the edge to get the most out of the dough. Instead, cookie cutters were haphazardly smooshed wherever their hearts desired.

Lack List vs. Lavish List
What are you grateful for right now?
In such a divisive, shouty culture, I am thankful for the example of those who are choosing to counter-culturally lead with compassion, upon the firm foundation of the Bible. I am inspired by those who listen instead of lecture, those who ask clarifying questions instead of jumping to judgment, those who give the benefit of the doubt yet kindly pull me aside when I fall short.

Gratefulness Is Our Guardrail
You’ve might have said, or heard a friend say, “my heart on this matter is_________”. It doesn’t take a microscopic lens to discern a person’s heart. We shout it from our social media pages and plaster it on t-shirts. What excites us and what concerns us is on full display. It spills out in a million little ways: our speech, our actions, where we spend our time, our money and cast our ballots; who we hang with, and who we don’t; what we are thankful for, and what we don’t appreciate.
